Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has addressed a viral video, allegedly from a family member, about his late wife’s death, insisting his family remains united.

He said he would not let detractors’ insinuations and attacks distract him from delivering the ARISE Agenda and fulfilling his social contract with the people of Akwa Ibom.

The governor spoke to Government House reporters at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, during the 60th birthday celebration of former deputy governor Obong Nsima Ekere on Saturday.

Eno said, “We are in political times, so this is expected. My family is intact, and you can see them all here with me.

“The video dates back to shortly after my wife passed last year. Why has it surfaced now, on the eve of the second anniversary and as we celebrate our achievements?

“This shows detractors at work. My family is strong. Jane is here, along with Helen and her husband. We have a good family.

“Losing a loved one places great pressure on children, and we must understand that.

“I appeal to the public not to revive painful memories. I have lost my wife and pray that her soul rests in peace.

“I will not be distracted. I remain focused on serving Akwa Ibom. I do not wish my experience on anyone. To those spreading rumours, I wish them luck.”

Eno also congratulated Ekere on his 60th birthday, praying for his health, wisdom, and continued contribution to the state and nation.
