Suspected assailants have razed 96 houses in Gyenbwas community, Langai District, Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
Residents allege that the attackers looted food, mattresses, cattle, and other valuables during the incident.
Alhaji Yakubu Umar, the traditional ruler and Madugun Langai, confirmed the attack on Tuesday in Jos.
According to Umar, “apart from the two persons killed on Monday, one more body was recovered on Tuesday,” bringing the total death toll to three.
The community accused members of the Berom ethnic group of launching the attack — an allegation the group has denied.

Umar lamented: “We have never experienced such atrocities. The perpetrators burned working equipment, clothes, foodstuffs, and other items. They also looted goods worth millions of naira. We live peacefully with everyone, and that is why we were very surprised.”
He called on both the state government and the Mangu LGA authorities to thoroughly investigate and bring those responsible to justice. He also urged the government to provide relief to those who lost their properties.
Berom Group Denies Allegations
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM) Association has denied any involvement in the attack, describing the accusation as false.
Dalyop Solomon, President of BYM, said: “Yesterday, three of our members who were on the farm around the area were attacked by terrorists and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital. All we know is that our people are under attack. Fulani are only coming out with excuses to justify their terror attack.
“But they should also know that whenever they attack our people, we have the right to defend ourselves. In the process of self-defense, it may result to that. Someone who is targeted may exercise right to self-defense of life, family, and property which is allowed by law. Possibly, people in the course of self-defense pursue the attackers to their hideout. We have never committed any attack against any Fulani.”
