Iran launched ballistic missiles at a US military base in Qatar on Monday, though no casualties or damage have been reported, according to a US defence official.

“I can confirm that Al Udeid Air Base was attacked by short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles originating from Iran today. At this time, there are no reports of US casualties,” the official stated.

The defence official also noted that there was no known damage to the facility, which serves as a major hub for American military operations in the region.

The missile strike followed recent US military action against Iran, in which American forces targeted three of Tehran’s nuclear facilities with airstrikes and missile attacks over the weekend.

Al Udeid Air Base, located southwest of Qatar’s capital Doha, is one of the largest US military installations overseas, hosting thousands of American personnel. It serves as the forward headquarters for US Central Command, as well as air and special operations units active across the Middle East.

The incident marks a significant escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, though both sides have so far avoided any immediate further military confrontation.
