Benin striker Mounié joins French side Stade Brestois

Steve Mounié has completed a transfer from English outfit Huddersfield Town to Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois 29.

The 25-year-old joins the French team for an undisclosed fee after three years in England, were he scored 19 goals in 95 appearances for the Terriers.

He also scored a twice on his debut for Huddersfield in what was their first ever Premier League game, which ended in a 3-0 win at Crystal Palace in August 2017.

Huddersfield’s head of football operations, Leigh Bromby confirmed the move saying: “Steve was going into the final year of his contract and with that in mind this transfer made complete sense for the Club.”

“He has certainly created a lot of happy memories with us, so we thank him for that and wish him all the best for the future.”

Mounié, with 7 goals in 25 international caps for the Benin national team, makes a return to the French top-division, having started his career at Montpellier.
