The Nigerian government has approved the complete payment of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons ahead of their championship match against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, announced this on Thursday, confirming that all payments owed, including those for the final on July 26, have been allocated for immediate distribution to players, coaches, and staff.
Dikko emphasised a renewed commitment to Nigerian athletes under President Tinubu’s administration, stressing that this would serve as the norm going forward, with timely payments being made without complications or delays.

“This is the kind of sports administration we are building, one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity. Future generations would appreciate President Tinubu’s reforms in the sports sector,” he said.
This move also applies to D’Tigress, Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, which is preparing for its 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket campaign in Côte d’Ivoire, and will also benefit from enhanced allowances and bonuses.
