American forces conducted a raid in Syria’s Aleppo province on Friday, killing a senior Islamic State group (ISIS) leader, Dhiya Zawba Muslih al-Hardani, along with his two adult sons, who were also affiliated with the terrorist group.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the operation in a statement.
CENTCOM stated that these individuals “posed a threat to US and Coalition forces, as well as the new Syrian government.”

The command also confirmed that three women and three children present at the raid location were unharmed.
ISIS emerged from the Syrian civil war’s instability over a decade ago, seizing significant territory in both Syria and Iraq.
While the group has suffered major defeats, the United States continues to conduct periodic raids and strikes against its remnants to prevent a resurgence.
