Naomi Osaka Splits with Coach Mouratoglou

Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka has confirmed her split from coach Patrick Mouratoglou, bringing their partnership to an end after less than a year together.

The four-time Grand Slam winner announced the decision on Monday, expressing her gratitude for the experience.

“Merci, Patrick… it was such a great experience learning from you,” Osaka wrote on X (formerly Twitter), signalling the end of a coaching relationship that began in September 2023.

Mouratoglou, widely known for his long-standing work with Serena Williams, joined Osaka’s camp as she attempted to rebuild her form after an extended break from tennis.

The Japanese star took the entirety of 2023 off following the birth of her daughter, returning to the WTA tour early last year.

However, Osaka has faced challenges regaining consistency since her comeback. Now ranked 49th in the world, she suffered an early exit in the first round of the French Open this year, followed by a third-round departure at Wimbledon.

No further details were provided regarding her future coaching plans as she looks to regain her place among the sport’s elite.
