Sisi Urges Trump to Stop Gaza War

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday appealed to US President Donald Trump to help end the fighting in Gaza, stating that “the time has come to end the war.”

In a video address focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Sisi said that Trump was “the one capable of stopping the war, bringing in aid and ending this suffering.” He added that he was making “a special appeal to His Excellency President Trump” to make every effort to halt the war and facilitate the delivery of aid.

President Trump said on Monday that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was “possible,” despite failed mediation efforts by the US, Egypt and Qatar.

Gaza’s population of more than two million is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis, with increasing starvation and malnutrition. In recent days, Israel has allowed more aid into the territory under international pressure.
