Naira Starts Week on a Positive Note

The naira opened the week with a slight gain against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira appreciated to ₦1,534.21 per dollar on Monday, up from ₦1,534.72 recorded on Friday. This reflects a marginal strengthening of ₦0.51.

However, at the parallel market, the Nigerian currency weakened further, dropping by ₦1 to trade at ₦1,538 per dollar on Monday, compared to ₦1,537 on Friday.

The currency movement comes as Nigeria’s external reserves rose to $38.77 billion on Friday, July 25, 2025, an increase from $38.63 billion recorded the previous day.
