South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung will travel to Tokyo next week to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, both governments confirmed on Wednesday.
The two leaders plan to discuss ways to strengthen their countries’ bilateral ties and trilateral cooperation with the United States.
This meeting will take place before President Lee’s scheduled sit-down with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, where they will finalise a recent trade deal.
Both Japan and South Korea have agreed to make significant investments in the U.S. in exchange for avoiding new tariffs.
The upcoming discussions are viewed as crucial for regional stability, underscoring the growing importance of the alliance among the three nations.
