Ghana’s local currency, the cedi, has fallen against major trading currencies on the interbank market, especially the US dollar.
In its daily update, the Bank of Ghana said the cedi was trading at a buying rate of GH¢10.62 and a selling rate of GH¢10.63 to the dollar. The British pound stood at GH¢14.36 for buying and GH¢14.37 for selling, while the euro traded at GH¢12.42 for buying and GH¢12.43 for selling.

Checks by GhanaWeb Business on August 13, 2025, at 7:50 a.m. showed higher rates at some forex bureaus, with the dollar selling at GH¢11.85, the pound at GH¢15.90, and the euro at GH¢13.90.
Despite the recent decline, Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Johnson Asiama noted that the cedi had appreciated by 42% in the first half of 2025.
