Chilean football legend Alexis Sanchez has left Udinese at the age of 36, the Italian club confirmed on Monday. Sanchez returned to the Serie A side a year ago for a second spell after a distinguished career across Europe.
“Udinese and Alexis Sanchez’s paths are separating. The club and the white-and-black icon have mutually agreed to terminate his contract,” the club said in a statement, adding that Sanchez will “always remain our ‘Amazing Kid’,” a nod to his long-standing nickname.

Sanchez first arrived at Udinese as a teenager in 2008, before going on to star for top European clubs, including Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Marseille. He won La Liga with Barcelona in 2013, Serie A titles with Inter in 2021 and 2024, and the FA Cup twice with Arsenal in 2015 and 2017.
Internationally, Sanchez shone for Chile, leading them to consecutive Copa America triumphs in 2015 and 2016, defeating Lionel Messi’s Argentina in both finals. Over his club career, he amassed 220 goals in 796 appearances.
