Afrobeats star and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has announced his intention to pursue a political career and possibly run for president in the future.
The Skin Tight hitmaker, who recently tied the knot with Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, revealed his ambitions in a Snapchat video, stating that he envisions himself leading an African nation someday.
“I have been thinking about it for a while, and I believe it’s time to share it with you all,” he said. “Some of you might be from an African country looking for a president — not one seeking money or power, but someone young, visionary, energetic, and capable of driving real progress. So, I’m officially putting myself forward for the presidency.”
Although Nigerian by birth, Mr Eazi maintains a strong bond with Ghana, where he studied and launched his music career. He often credits the country for shaping his distinctive sound, which he calls Banku Music — a blend of Nigerian and Ghanaian influences.
In recent years, a growing number of Nigerian celebrities have entered politics, either by contesting elections or accepting political appointments. Actress Eniola Badmus, for instance, announced in April 2025 her ambition to become a senator, while former senator Ben Bruce once predicted that singer Davido could emerge as a future governor of Osun State.
Mr Eazi’s declaration adds to the list of entertainers eyeing political roles, signalling a potential shift in how the younger generation engages with leadership and governance across Africa.
