Nigeria’s Super Eagles have moved up four places in the latest FIFA world rankings, published on Friday by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
The three-time African champions now occupy 41st position globally, rising from 45th, and have climbed one spot in the African rankings under coach Eric Chelle.
The team is currently ranked among the continent’s top five national sides, trailing Morocco’s Atlas Lions, Senegal’s Teranga Lions, Egypt’s Pharaohs, and Algeria’s Desert Foxes.
Nigeria’s rise comes after consecutive victories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, including a 2-1 win over Lesotho at New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane and a 4-0 triumph against the Benin Republic in Uyo.
At the top of the global rankings, Spain retained first place, with Argentina moving up to second, France dropping to third, and England and Portugal completing the top five.
