African players delivered several decisive performances in Europe’s major leagues over the weekend.

The biggest highlight came in the Premier League, where Cameroon striker Bryan Mbeumo netted his first goal for Manchester United since August, helping his club secure a 2-1 victory over rivals Liverpool at Anfield—their first win there since 2016.

Mbeumo scored in the opening minute, expertly moving past Virgil van Dijk before finishing a pass from Ivorian winger Amad Diallo.

The win marked the first time under manager Ruben Amorim that United achieved consecutive league victories.

In Germany’s Bundesliga, Ivorian teenager Bazoumana Toure broke the deadlock for Hoffenheim in their 3-0 win against St Pauli, scoring with a low shot nine minutes into the second half.

Meanwhile, in France’s Ligue 1, two African midfielders powered Nice to a 3-2 victory over Lyon. Moroccan Sofiane Diop and Algerian Hicham Boudaoui both found the net, with Diop putting Nice ahead and Boudaoui extending the lead shortly after halftime.

Elsewhere, Senegal-born Sambou Soumano came off the bench for Lorient to rescue a 3-3 draw against Brest with an 89th-minute equaliser.

Finally, Malian striker Lassine Sinayoko successfully converted a penalty to earn Auxerre a 2-2 draw at Rennes.
