In a historic moment for African football, Morocco won the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup taking place in Santiago, Chile by beating Argentina 2-0 in the final on Monday.

Morocco’s big win was thanks to rising star Yassir Zabiri, who s cored two goals in the first half, once in the 12th minute and again in the 29th to shut out the Argentine fans and win the match.

Even though Argentina tried hard in the second half, they couldn’t find a way past Morocco’s strong defence.

Morocco’s journey to the final was anything but easy.They were placed in a tough group with Spain, Brazil, and Mexico. They started with a loss to Mexico but still topped the group by beating Brazil and Spain.

In the knockout stages, Morocco beat South Korea in the round of 16, then beat the United States in the quarters, and came from behind to beat France on penalties in the semis. Winning against Argentina in the final completed a fantastic tournament run.

This win makes Morocco the second African country to win the U-20 World Cup, after Ghana in 2009.

This is also Morocco’s first ever FIFA trophy at any level, showing how much the country is growing in world football.
