Nottingham Forest have named Sean Dyche as their new head coach on a contract lasting until 2027, the Premier League team announced on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old former manager of Burnley and Everton takes over from Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed on Saturday after only 40 days in charge at the City Ground.
Having been a trainee at Forest under the legendary manager Brian Clough, Dyche becomes the club’s third manager this season and is stepping into his first role since departing Everton at the beginning of this year.
“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter,” said a Forest statement.
Dyche’s first match will take place on Thursday in the Europa League against Porto at home.
Postecoglou was relieved of his duties just moments after the club’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, making him the shortest-serving permanent manager in Premier League history.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis let go of the former Spurs manager following a winless start in his first eight matches.
Postecoglou was hired after Nuno Espírito Santo was sacked in September due to a breakdown in his relationship with Marinakis.
Forest currently sit in the relegation zone of the Premier League with only five points from eight matches, despite a squad strengthened by more than £100 million ($134 million) during the transfer window.
