Nigeria has announced an ambitious plan to create 20,000 jobs every year through the implementation of the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), an initiative aimed at positioning the country as a major hub for global talent outsourcing.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, revealed the target during a briefing on the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s economic resilience through digital innovation and workforce development.

According to the minister, NATEP is designed to provide employment opportunities for Nigerians by linking skilled professionals to international markets while fostering a favourable environment for investors in the technology and service sectors.

She noted that the programme aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises job creation, youth empowerment, and economic diversification.

Dr Uzoka-Anite explained that the initiative would help reduce the nation’s unemployment rate, support small businesses, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global labour market. She added that the ministry is partnering with private sector stakeholders and international organisations to ensure the sustainability of the programme.

She reaffirmed the government’s determination to make Nigeria a top destination for digital services, emphasising that the country possesses a dynamic and youthful population ready to contribute to global innovation.

By leveraging technology and skills development, she said, Nigeria aims to create not only jobs but also a thriving ecosystem that supports long-term national growth and prosperity.
