Spaniard Álex Márquez (Ducati-Gresini) rebounded from a crash in qualifying to claim victory in the Portuguese MotoGP sprint race at the Portimão circuit.

Márquez, who started fifth on the grid, managed to overtake fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta (KTM), who finished second. Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) took the final spot on the podium.

Bezzecchi initially led the 12-lap race from pole position but was passed first by Acosta and then by Márquez, who secured the lead with just four laps remaining.

Although the top two spots in the overall championship are already settled by the Márquez brothers (Marc is champion, and Álex is runner-up), the battle for third place remains open.

Bezzecchi maintained his third-place position, extending his lead to 10 points over Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who finished the sprint in eighth.

World Champion Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez did not participate in the Portuguese round.
