The Naira posted sharp week-on-week losses against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
Figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria show that the currency weakened further, closing on Friday, November 21, 2025, at N1,456.73 to the dollar, compared with N1,442.43 recorded on November 14. This reflects a weekly depreciation of N14.06 at the official window.
In contrast, the parallel market — which has been experiencing reduced activity — remained unchanged at N1,465, the same rate recorded the previous week.
The decline in the Naira comes despite a 1.25 per cent increase in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which rose to $43.64 billion over the past week.
