Liberian President Joseph Boakai has expressed confidence that innovation can drive significant transformation in Imo State.

Speaking on Thursday in Owerri at the 2025 Imo Economic Summit hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Boakai said, “Innovation can become the engine that drives Imo’s transformation.”

He stressed that for Africa to progress, elections must be peaceful and deliver tangible development benefits to citizens.

Boakai highlighted similarities between Liberia and Imo State, noting shared histories of resilience, commitment to peace, good governance, and the belief in Africa’s self-driven growth.

He also referenced Liberia’s recent election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council as a milestone for Africa in global stability and post-conflict recovery.

The Liberian president expressed optimism about potential collaborations between Imo State and Liberia through regional development and democratic governance initiatives.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the summit.

Other attendees included former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Aliko Dangote, Finance Minister Wale Edun, state governors, and other dignitaries.
