AFCON 2025 Winners To Earn $10 Million

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco will receive a record prize of $10 million.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe disclosed the prize structure on Saturday after a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat.

The competition will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

CAF said the $10 million prize represents a 43 percent increase from the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, where the champions earned $7 million. Winners of the 2021 edition in Cameroon received $5 million.

Under the new prize structure, runners-up will receive $4 million, while the two losing semi-finalists will each earn $2.5 million.

CAF said the increase is aimed at boosting the value, competitiveness, and global appeal of Africa’s top football tournament.

“The increase in prize money reflects CAF’s commitment to elevating African football and rewarding excellence on the continent’s most prestigious stage,” the organisation said in a statement.

The Morocco 2025 tournament will open on Sunday with the hosts Morocco national football team, facing the Comoros national football team at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
