Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team has been hit with a severe nine-point penalty after French football authorities ruled that the club fielded an ineligible player due to a licensing error.

The sanction effectively overturns three league victories and has a major impact on PSG’s position in the Première Ligue standings.

The decision follows a complaint lodged by Fleury, who were beaten 4–0 by PSG last month.

After reviewing the case, the French Football Federation ruled that PSG should be handed a defeat by forfeit for that match. The punishment was then extended to two earlier fixtures, a 2–0 win over Le Havre and a 1–0 victory against Strasbourg.

As a result of the three forfeits, PSG lost nine points and fell from second place to fifth in the league table, dealing a significant blow to their title ambitions.

The sanction centres on Florianne Jourde, who joined PSG in July from Canadian club AS Laval.

The 21-year-old did not have an international transfer certificate issued by FIFA at the time of her registration, a requirement for professional players moving between clubs in different countries to obtain a valid licence.

PSG strongly criticised the ruling, describing it as “totally disproportionate”, and confirmed they will appeal the decision. The club said it acted in good faith and with full transparency, relying on the information available at the time of the transfer.

In their statement, PSG also pointed out that the French Football Federation itself had validated Jourde’s move by issuing her a licence, arguing that she was therefore eligible to play in the three matches in question. They hinted that the administrative issue has since been resolved by FIFA without any difficulty.

The club said it considered the punishment a “clear injustice” and insisted that it would challenge the ruling through the appropriate appeals process.
