A US Congressman, Riley Moore, has praised the US airstrikes targeting Islamic terrorist groups in Nigeria, saying the militants responsible for past attacks on Christians were now “on the receiving end.”
In an interview on Fox News, the lawmaker said, “The last two Christmases, there has been a massacre of Christians in Nigeria. The tables have absolutely turned this year. The Islamic terrorists in Nigeria were the ones receiving that type of present this year.”
He added that the operation showed strong commitment from both the US and Nigerian governments.
“The President is totally focused on this. He made it very clear in this attack, and this is a very good first step to addressing the issue,” he said, emphasising that the strikes were carried out in close coordination with Nigerian authorities.

The airstrikes targeted strategic bases of Islamist militants in Nigeria, aiming to degrade their operational capabilities and prevent further attacks on civilians.
Analysts say the operation signals a significant escalation in international efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
Recall that US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that American forces had carried out deadly airstrikes against Islamic State terrorists in Northwestern Nigeria, warning that further attacks would follow if the militants continued killing Christians.
Trump disclosed this on his Truth Social platform, adding that the Department of War had executed numerous perfect strikes.
The strikes come against the backdrop of repeated deadly attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria.
On Christmas Eve in 2023, at least 140 people were killed, and several others went missing after gunmen attacked remote villages in Plateau State.
Similarly, on Christmas Day in 2024, herdsmen reportedly attacked five predominantly Christian villages in Benue State, killing no fewer than 33 people.
