Ferran Torres Joins PSG After World Cup Win

Barcelona have agreed to sell Spain's World Cup final hero Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for almost 50 million euros ($57 million), Spanish media reported.

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Spain forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona, with the World Cup winner joining the French champions on a long-term deal.

The Ligue 1 side announced on Saturday that the 26-year-old striker has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2031. The transfer fee has been reported at €50 million ($58 million).

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce it has secured the services of Ferran Torres. The Spanish World Cup-winning forward has signed with the Club until 2031,” PSG said in an official statement.

Bezos Consortium Takes Liverpool Stake

Torres will reunite with Luis Enrique, the coach who handed him his Spain debut during a Nations League match against Germany in 2020. Under Enrique, Torres became an important figure in the national team setup and was part of Spain’s recent World Cup triumph.

The forward scored the decisive goal in last month’s World Cup final after coming on as a substitute, ending Argentina’s hopes of retaining the trophy. The goal added to his growing list of achievements at both club and international level.

Nicknamed “The Shark”, Torres joined Barcelona during the 2021/22 season after spells with Valencia and Manchester City. During his time at the Catalan club, he made 207 appearances and scored 65 goals, helping Barcelona secure three La Liga titles and contributing to their Copa del Rey final victory over Real Madrid in 2025.

Barcelona paid tribute to the forward after his departure, saying: “The Club would like to express its gratitude to Ferran Torres for his commitment over the last four and a half seasons as a blaugrana and wishes him all the best for the next stage of his professional career.”

Torres’ move could also influence Liverpool’s pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola. The Premier League club have been in talks with PSG over the 23-year-old France international, although negotiations have been complicated by the French club’s reported €150 million valuation.
