The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the most abused politician in Nigeria today, after President Bola Tinubu, who announced that political activities in Rivers State will officially begin in January 2026.
Wike spoke on Saturday during a thanksgiving service organised by the South-South Development Commission’s Chibudom Nwuche and his family in his hometown, Ochiba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State Governor reaffirmed his unwavering support for Tinubu and emphasised that he honours every agreement he enters.
He also thanked residents of Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas for their steadfast loyalty.

“This is the first local government we have come to thank for standing with us all these years. God detests those who are ungrateful, and for your support, we say thank you,” Wike said.
Recalling the 2023 elections, he praised locals for defending Tinubu’s mandate.
“During that election, many doubted Tinubu’s victory, and some were unable to vote. But we stood firm, took a stand, and to the glory of God, he is now President and Commander-in-Chief,” he added.
He commended residents for strengthening Tinubu’s mandate in Rivers State and made a veiled reference to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress, suggesting their support was delayed.
Wike stressed the importance of honouring agreements, warning that politics in Rivers State will begin in January next year and that he will not be manipulated.
“We have never wavered in support of Bola Tinubu. After him, I am the most abused politician because I honour agreements,” he said.
He criticised local politicians who abuse him for personal gain, mocking claims that financial incentives are often used to manipulate his position.
Earlier, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, praised Wike for his contributions to the Ekpeye Kingdom, including the elevation of seven first-class stools, highlighting that Wike’s leadership has positively impacted the local community.
Nwuche urged Nigerians to choose leaders carefully, noting that Wike’s tenure improved lives, contrasting it with leaders who misuse power for oppression.
