The bodies of close friends of British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua arrived at the London Central Mosque on Sunday ahead of funeral prayers.
Two vehicles carrying the coffin were seen entering the mosque as mourners gathered for the janaza for Latif “Latz” Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both members of Joshua’s training team, as seen in a video obtained by News Central TV.
The arrival marked the start of funeral rites for the two men, who were killed in a road accident in Nigeria earlier this week. The prayers were scheduled to take place at the mosque on Park Road in north London, as family, friends and members of the boxing community gathered to mourn.
Ayodele, Joshua’s long-time trainer, and Ghami, his strength and fitness coach, died on December 29, 2025, in a crash on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Ogere in Ogun State.
Joshua was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to a private hospital in Lagos, where he was treated and later discharged.
After leaving the hospital, the boxer visited a funeral home in Lagos with his mother and officials from the British High Commission to arrange the return of the bodies.
The bodies of Ayodele and Ghami were flown to the United Kingdom after arrangements were completed in Nigeria on Thursday, January 1.
Police and eyewitnesses said the black Range Rover SUV carrying Joshua and his friends veered off the road and struck a stationary truck by the roadside.
Emergency responders confirmed that Ayodele and Ghami died at the scene.
