At least two people were killed after lightning struck a crowd of about 150 people attending a festival north of South Africa’s capital, Pretoria.
Local health officials made this known on Sunday.
The incident was reported to have occurred on Saturday night near the village of Mathibestad, approximately 70 kilometres (40 miles) north of Pretoria, during an annual traditional celebration.
The North West Department of Health said around 150 people sought medical attention at a local clinic after being struck by lightning.

Thirteen of the injured were in critical condition and were transferred to another health facility for treatment, while two were confirmed dead.
Thunderstorms are common in this part of South Africa during the southern hemisphere’s summer season.
