The Malian army announced on Monday that an air strike on Sunday killed more than 100 terrorists in a forested area of central Mali, calling it a major operation against armed groups in the region.

According to reports, the Malian Armed Forces said that during an aerial surveillance mission on January 25, its air units successfully targeted a base used by terrorist groups in the Soussan forest, located west of Dioila and southwest of Zantiguila.

Mali has struggled with a long-running security crisis since 2012, particularly in the northern and central regions, where terrorist groups have staged frequent attacks.

In recent months, some of these groups intensified operations after the government banned the sale of fuel outside official stations in rural areas, a move aimed at cutting off supplies to the terrorists.
