Novak Djokovic advanced to the Australian Open final by rallying past Jannik Sinner in a five-set marathon, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, finishing at about 1:32 am.
The win sets up a title match against Carlos Alcaraz, who edged Alexander Zverev in a separate five-set thriller.
If Djokovic wins, he would claim a record 25th Grand Slam, a historic feat that would put him one ahead of Margaret Court’s all-time tally of 24 majors, after tying the Open Era milestone with the seven-time Australian Open champion.

Sinner started strongly, breaking Djokovic early to lead 3-0 and win the first set. Djokovic fought back to take the second set; Sinner claimed the third, pushing Djokovic to the brink. Djokovic battled through the fourth set to force a deciding fifth, where he broke for 4-3 and eventually closed it out, despite Sinner saving two match points at 4-5.
Djokovic has a long Melbourne Park legacy, with 10 titles there, and he appeared emotionally and physically taxed yet resourceful in securing victory. The result leaves Djokovic in elite company with the sport’s all-time Grand Slam leaders and sets up a high-stakes final against an in-form Alcaraz.
Alcaraz, the top seed, also reached the final after overcoming fitness issues to defeat Zverev in five sets.
