A fire on Monday gutted parts of the popular Singa Market in Kano.
The spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, confirmed the incident, stating that the service received a distress call at about 3:16 am and immediately deployed firefighting personnel to the scene.
He said that at about 10 a.m the market was still burning as firefighters worked to prevent the fire from spreading further.
“As of about 10 am, pockets of the market were still burning, with firefighters working to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading further,” Yusif said.
He has assured the public that more details about the incident will be provided.
