The Nigerian Government will convene a two-day National Economic Council (NEC) conference, chaired by the Vice President Kashim Shettima, to strengthen economic coordination and drive inclusive growth across all states.
The meeting is scheduled from 9 February to 10 February 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In a statement issued by Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s office said the gathering would bring together governors and key national stakeholders to deliberate on pressing macroeconomic priorities.

Organised by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the conference will focus on fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation, and the harmonisation of federal and state economic strategies.
The event, themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan,” is expected to guide policy direction as states align with the Nigerian Government’s long-term development agenda.
Deborah Oko Odo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, said the forum would concentrate on national economic matters aimed at stimulating growth and development across the country.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour, alongside senior government officials, development partners, and private-sector leaders, as the administration advances reforms under its Renewed Hope Agenda.
The National Economic Council is constitutionally mandated to advise the President on the Nation’s economic affairs, particularly in coordinating economic planning and programmes between the federal and state governments.
