The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed that three children were abducted by suspected kidnappers on Saturday in Nkwegu, near the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate in Abakaliki Local Government Area.

The parents of the children reported the incident, according to the police.

A two-year-old boy and two girls, ages four and two, were named as the victims by spokesperson Joshua Ukandu.

Ukandu told reporters that “Yes, we are aware of the incident. It occurred in the early hours of 7 February.”

He added that no ransom demands have been made and no arrests have been recorded so far.

“Our officers are actively investigating and working to rescue the abducted children,” he said, assuring the public that a dedicated operation has been launched to bring them home safely.

The kidnapping has sparked widespread concern across the state, particularly given the incident’s proximity to a military facility.
