Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday called for improved water sustainability and resource management in Africa.
Nandi-Ndaitwah warned that mismanagement could worsen poverty.
The president stated this during the AU Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“So we are talking about water sustainability. It’s very important; we need it. In particular, it’s being threatened by climate change. So we must make sure we manage our water properly,” Nandi-Ndaitwah told journalists.

She added that resource management across the continent was essential.
“Resource management is very key. Because if we are not managing our resources properly, our people will continue to live in poverty. And that we must make sure it does not continue,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
Her comments come as African nations face increasing pressure to address climate change, water scarcity, and sustainable development challenges.
