An early morning fire gutted the Fatima Simra Multi-Purpose Market in Dakata Quarters, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The incident occurred barely a week after a major fire at Singa Market destroyed goods valued at several million naira.
The latest outbreak, which began in the early hours of Friday, swept through multiple shops, largely occupied by small-scale operators involved in oil production and the recycling of plastics and nylon.

Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said firefighters were still working to contain the flames. He explained that emergency responders remained at the scene, trying to contain the fire, adding that the cause and the scale of the destruction had yet to be determined.
In February 2026, two separate fire incidents occurred at Singer Market, resulting in losses estimated at billions of naira.Â
During a condolence visit, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf announced a N100 million donation to affected traders.
