Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency and daughter of former Delta State Governor James Onanefe Ibori, escaped unharmed on Saturday after violence broke out during the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Ethiope-West Local Government Area.

The congress, previously scheduled for Oghara Township Stadium, was relocated to Ovade in Ethiope-West LGA.

Eyewitnesses reported that suspected gunmen and thugs attacked Ibori-Suenu and her supporters, leaving several people injured.

Sources said the lawmaker was prevented from entering the Congress grounds due to security concerns, but her personal security detail ensured she remained unharmed.

Some party members alleged that the attack was politically motivated, pointing to rival interests within the state.

Ibori-Suenu urged security forces to maintain the peace and pleaded with APC supporters to remain calm, but eyewitness reports indicated that tensions persisted in some areas of the local government, with party members demanding increased security.
