Iran has firmly rejected a recent US proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, emphasising that any ceasefire would depend entirely on Tehran’s conditions and timeline.
A senior Iranian political-security official, speaking to Press TV, stressed that the country would not allow US President Donald Trump to dictate the resolution of the war, underlining that Iran’s “defensive operations” would continue until its demands were fully met.
“Iran will end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met,” the official said. Tehran, which is prepared to continue its military response, warned it would deliver “heavy blows” until its objectives were achieved.

The Iranian government has set out five key conditions for any potential ceasefire. These include an immediate halt to what it terms “aggression and assassinations,” the establishment of guarantees to prevent the resumption of hostilities, and the payment of damages and reparations.
Iran also demands a complete cessation of hostilities involving allied groups across the region and insists on the recognition of its sovereignty over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime passage.
These demands are in line with positions Iran presented during previous Geneva talks before the latest escalation began in late February. Tehran has reiterated that it will not engage in negotiations unless all its conditions are met, making it clear that the war’s end will occur only when it deems necessary, not according to Washington’s timeline.
The US sent a 15-point proposal through intermediaries, including Pakistan’s army chief, who has played a key role in mediating between the two nations. However, Iran has dismissed this outreach as excessive, accusing the US of attempting to escalate tensions rather than resolve the conflict.
