Civil servants working in the Federal Secretariat in Abuja have been directed to work from home on Friday, March 27, 2026, because of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.

The directive, issued in a circular signed by Abdul Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, covers all ministries, extra-ministerial departments, agencies, and offices located within Phases I, II, and III of the Secretariat, and even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the circular, all access roads leading to and around the Secretariat complex will be closed from Friday, March 27, to Saturday, March 28, 2026, to accommodate the use of Eagle Square for the APC convention.

Heads of ministries, departments, and agencies have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with the directive.

“All concerned Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies are kindly requested to bring the content of this Circular to the attention of their staff, and ensure strict compliance,” the circular stated.

The convention at Eagle Square is a major political event, expected to bring together party leaders, delegates, and supporters from across Nigeria.

Party officials use it as a crucial forum to discuss internal issues and prepare for events leading up to the general elections in 2027.
