The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel and operational assets across Abuja ahead of the 2026 Easter celebrations.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Josephine Adeh.

According to the statement, the deployment targets churches and recreational centres across the FCT as part of efforts to ensure a safe and secure festive period for residents and worshippers.

The command noted that the move is aimed at reinforcing existing security arrangements through enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, and coordinated vehicular and foot patrols. It added that continuous monitoring would be carried out to enable the prompt detection and prevention of criminal activities.

“As part of the security measures, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Units have been deployed to conduct routine sweeps of major public and recreational locations to mitigate potential threats,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Ahmed Sanusi, extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful across the territory, urging residents to embrace peace, unity, and mutual respect during the period.

He also called on residents to remain law-abiding and encouraged religious leaders to continue promoting messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

The commissioner reassured residents of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations, while appealing for continued cooperation with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free Easter.
