The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced on Monday that head coach Marian Marinica has stepped down from his position, citing undisclosed personal reasons.
The 61-year-old Romanian strategist, who previously led the national teams of Malawi and Liberia, departs just months after signing a one-year contract last November.
During his brief tenure, Marinica successfully guided “The Warriors” to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
However, the team’s campaign ended in the group stages following a draw with Angola and subsequent defeats against Egypt and South Africa.

In the wake of his departure, former national team captain Kaitano Tembo has been named caretaker coach.
Tembo will lead the squad into the upcoming Unity Cup tournament in London, scheduled for late May, where Zimbabwe will compete against India, Jamaica, and Nigeria.
