Cameroonian basketball player Joel Embiid delivered a powerhouse performance on Tuesday, scoring 33 points and providing eight assists to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 113-97 win over the Boston Celtics.

In just his second appearance following an emergency appendectomy earlier this month, the reigning MVP found his rhythm in the second half to help Philadelphia avoid elimination.

The victory narrows Boston’s lead in the Eastern Conference first-round series to 3-2, keeping the Sixers’ playoff hopes alive as the matchup heads back to Philadelphia.

Despite a brief scare when he retreated to the locker room to check a tweaked left knee, Embiid returned to dominate the final period.

The Celtics, who led by seven at halftime, suffered a significant offensive collapse in the fourth quarter, managing only 11 points—their lowest single-quarter total of the entire season.

While Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown kept the game close through three quarters, they were unable to answer the Sixers’ late 28-11 run that turned a one-point deficit into a comfortable double-digit victory.

Support for Embiid came from Tyrese Maxey, who recorded a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Paul George, who contributed 16 points.

The 76ers now look to force a decisive Game 7 when they host the Celtics on Thursday.

The winner of this high-stakes series will advance to the second round to face either the New York Knicks or the Atlanta Hawks, who are currently locked in their own tightly contested playoff battle.
