Senator Samuel Anyanwu is facing uncertainty over his political future after a split ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria deepened the leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The court affirmed an earlier decision by the Court of Appeal to suspend key figures in the party, including Anyanwu and Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), leaving the PDP in a state of uncertainty over who is truly in charge at a crucial time.

The situation was triggered by the court’s move to nullify the party’s Ibadan convention, a decision that has thrown its internal structure into disarray and reopened questions about its leadership hierarchy.
In response, a faction led by Kabiru Turaki warned that the ruling has effectively left the party without a clear direction, raising concerns about its ability to organise itself ahead of the 2027 elections.
