The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised former Senate President David Mark as the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following a Supreme Court ruling delivered on Thursday.

Former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola is now listed as the party’s national secretary on the commission’s official register of political party leadership, INEC confirmed.

By 11 pm on Thursday, the electoral body’s website showed Mark at the top of the ADC hierarchy, with Aregbesola as secretary.

Other officers include Mani Ahmad as national treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as national financial secretary, and Professor Oserheimen Osunbor as national legal adviser.

The Supreme Court’s decision set aside a status quo ante bellum order that had previously kept the party’s leadership question unresolved.

The court also directed that any related legal proceedings be returned to the Federal High Court.
