Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner secured his place in the Madrid Open final after defeating Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4 on Friday.
This victory marks the Italian’s 22nd consecutive win, setting him up for a chance to claim a record fifth straight Masters 1000 title in Sunday’s final.
Sinner enters the championship match as the heavy favourite, especially with rival Carlos Alcaraz sidelined by injury.
Throughout the match, he demonstrated the high level of play that has earned him recent titles in Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo.
He broke Fils’ serve twice in the first set, using sheer power to overwhelm the 25th-ranked Frenchman.

While the second set proved more competitive, Sinner eventually broke the deadlock with a brilliant backhand winner to take a 5-4 lead before serving out the match.
Despite his dominance, he admitted to feeling some physical fatigue from his heavy match schedule, though he noted his mental state remains strong.
He emphasised that he must continue to raise his performance level as the tournament reaches its peak.
In the final, Sinner will face either second seed Alexander Zverev or Belgian newcomer Alexander Blockx.
