US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he expected Iran to respond by “tonight” to Washington’s latest proposal aimed at ending the Middle East conflict.
“I’m getting a letter supposedly tonight, so we’ll see how that goes,” Trump told reporters outside the White House.
The remarks came as the United States continued diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire agreement with Iran during ongoing tensions in the region.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said Washington expected Tehran’s response on Friday and hoped it would open the door to serious negotiations.
