Erhiatake Ibori‑Suenu, a lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially declared her intention to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections under the All Progressives Party (APC).

Ibori‑Suenu declared her intention on Thursday at the Oghara Township Stadium in Delta State. She appealed for support from her constituency and members of the APC.

While declaring her ambition, she identified herself as “a proud daughter” of Ethiope West.

“I declare today, the 14th of May 2026, to run for the House of Representatives come 2027,” she said.

The lawmaker vowed to continue the good work she has begun in the National Assembly.

“So I plead that you send me back again to continue to do the good work for our people,” she added.

The politician also spoke of the importance of unity, adding that the moment was one in which the people of Ethiope came together “to speak in one voice.”

She said her political ambition is motivated by a desire “to continue to change the narrative that a woman, that a girl child cannot amount to anything”.

The lawmaker is the daughter of a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, and a philanthropist who empowers the youths and women in her constituency.

She has been described by many as a worthy daughter of the Urhobo nation.
