Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate following the primary election.
Chairman of the election committee, Mohammed Kabiru Isa, on Friday declared Alia the winner with 367,786 votes, while his challengers, Jeffrey Kuranun and Terwase Orbunde, polled 2,923 and 3,247 votes respectively.
In his acceptance remarks, Alia called for unity within the party, urging stakeholders to work together for the state’s progress.
He said all APC members were working toward the same goal of advancing Benue State, adding that collaboration was necessary to move the state forward.
The governor also expressed appreciation to party members and supporters who participated in the process, describing their backing as a key part of his mandate.
He further thanked residents of the state for their continued support for his administration and pledged to sustain efforts toward development, human capacity growth, and progress in Benue.
“We are all APC members and we’re all working for the progress of the people of Benue State. I invite them to continue to join forces with me so that we would move the state forward from where we are today, once again, from grace to full Spirit of God.
“And to the rest of the people in the state, I thank you for the continued support to this administration of ours. It is your government and you are the government. And it is my hope that your support will continue to come so that as I already pledged to ensure that progress comes in, development comes in, human capacity comes in,” he stated.
