President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that Ukraine has made little progress in talks with the United States regarding the expanded production of anti-ballistic missile defences.
Highlighting a long-term stagnation in negotiations with Washington, Zelensky confirmed that Kyiv is now shifting its focus toward Europe to accelerate the manufacturing of defensive shield systems on the continent in sufficient quantities.
Despite the manufacturing bottleneck, Zelensky emphasised that Ukraine continues to engage Washington, calling American leadership vital to the effort.
He specifically praised French President Emmanuel Macron for helping develop defensive systems and acknowledged Europe’s crucial role in financing Ukrainian weapon acquisitions.

Still, the Ukrainian leader stressed that Kyiv heavily requires U.S. financial leadership alongside European support.
While Ukraine appreciates American military expertise, Zelensky stated that the country needs tangible results on both the battlefield and the diplomatic front.
He confirmed that Ukraine currently awaits new diplomatic measures and fresh proposals from representatives of the US president to move peace talks forward.
U.S.-led diplomatic initiatives to resolve the four-year-old Russia-Ukraine war have stalled recently, as Washington shifts its primary focus toward the conflict with Iran.
