The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, says it has deployed over 210 personnel across the state for its 2026 Eid-el-Kabir special patrol operation aimed at improving road safety during the festive period.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Sector Public Education Officer, Margaret Onabe, said the deployment includes both regular and special marshals positioned strategically to ensure smooth traffic flow and rapid emergency response.
She explained that the exercise, which began on May 25 and is expected to end on May 31, 2026, is part of the corps’ annual intervention plan designed to manage increased vehicular movement during festive celebrations.
According to her, the operation is intended to strengthen public enlightenment, reduce road crashes, fatalities and injuries, ease congestion, ensure quick clearance of obstructions, and improve emergency response along highways in the state.
She said the command confirmed that over 210 personnel had been mobilised for the special patrol, with operational logistics including patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, motorcycles, radar guns, breathalysers and other traffic management tools fully deployed.
She added that special focus would be placed on high-traffic areas such as the Bridge Head in Onitsha and other key routes across Anambra.

Onabe also noted that the operation would target major traffic violations responsible for road crashes, including speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, phone use while driving, use of unroadworthy vehicles, expired tyres, passenger manifest breaches and other related offences.
She further disclosed that mobile courts would be deployed to facilitate swift prosecution of offenders, while emergency response and rescue teams had been placed on high alert for immediate intervention when necessary.
She added that the Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhauno, had directed close collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency and the OCHA Brigade to strengthen enforcement and coordination during the period.
She also urged motorists and other road users to comply with traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving and prioritise safety throughout the celebrations, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir.
“She urged motorists, passengers, and other road users to cooperate with traffic management agencies by obeying all traffic rules and regulations, avoiding risky driving behaviours, and prioritizing safety throughout the celebrations.
“The FRSC Anambra Sector Command wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid El-Kabir celebration and reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring safer roads for all,” she added.
