According to the statement, the command remains committed to ensuring a peaceful, secure, and hitch-free celebration for residents and visitors across the Federal Capital Territory during the Eid-el-Kabir period.

The statement reads: “To further reinforce security deployments, the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies including the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and other relevant stakeholders, has activated a coordinated joint security architecture under the code name “Operation Sweep FCT.” The operation has been divided into strategic sectors across the Federal Capital Territory, with personnel carrying out continuous patrols and coordinated security operations aimed at deterring, preventing, and responding swiftly to any form of criminal activity.

“As part of the Command’s preventive security strategy, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams have also been directed to conduct proactive sweeps of designated worship centres, recreational facilities, and other venues expected to host large gatherings. Sustained intelligence-led operations and targeted raids on identified flashpoints and locations associated with illicit drug activities have also been ordered, with clear directives that all operations must be conducted professionally and within established legal standards.

He emphasised the need for heightened visibility policing, prompt response to distress situations, and stronger engagement with communities.

“The CP further warned that no form of unprofessional conduct would be tolerated and directed all officers to remain disciplined, properly dressed, courteous, and respectful in all interactions with members of the public.

“The Commissioner of Police reassures residents of the FCT of the Command’s firm commitment to the protection of lives and property and urges members of the public to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities through the Command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913, 07057337653.

“The Command wishes all Muslim faithful and residents of the Federal Capital Territory a peaceful, secure, and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.”
